Here are the Halloween pictures. Bridget was Dracula and looked lovely in her pale face with blood driping down her chin (the costume idea was totally hers by the way - her Vampire loving mama didn't have anything to do with this!). Owen was a lion, cute and cuddly. The kids have already eaten more candy than humanly possible. My husband is being all strong willed and hasn't had a single piece of candy. Humph. He also works out every morning and has sexy biceps. Show off.I'm getting all these compliments lately on how much people love my daughter. How kind and sweet and generous and good with little kids she is. I'm eating it up :-) Oh, yeah, and I tell her too since she might have something to do with it ;-)
This afternoon, out of the blue, Bridget came up and showed me a multiplication problem she had written out. I told her she was one number off and she said "that's the answer I got so that's what it is". I said "ok" and went back to what I was doing. Two minutes later, from the couch where she was sitting with her notebook, I hear "ok, I guess you're right". LOL! Yup, I know my kid ;-) She then went on to come up with and solve a bunch more multiplication problems for fun. Then Owen started asking me addition problems. "Mama, what does 7 and 1 plus?". Then we sang along to the School House Rock math songs for awhile. I love unschooling :-D
There is (yet another!) Halloween party tomorrow but we're skipping it. I've made the decision to try and concentrate on smaller gatherings for awhile. One on one playdates, small Roots & Shoots events (where we know all the families) and our laid back and relatively small fiber arts circle meetings. We're heading into my "bad time" of year soon. SAD plus the holiday stress and guilt (of not living up to the expectations of others even though I know THEY are the unreasonable ones) tends to bowl me over somewhere around the end of December. I'm doing really great on supplements from The Mood Cure book (when I remember to take them!) but after last week's overbooked schedule stressing me out I think that this will be a good idea.
I guess that's it. I have a few emails to knock off and then (gulp) tomorrow begins the writing marathon. Wish me luck :-D
