I made this last week :) I'm really happy with how it turned out. My daughter kept eyeing it but this morning I sent it off to the woman who's collecting them for the school she works in (specifically, for the kids in the school who don't have warm clothes for the winter). Don't feel too bad for my daughter, she already has plenty of scarves. Still, I'll probably make her a new scarf and hat set this winter. Just because it's fun and I can and she'll love it :D
If you have any scarves, hats or blankets on hand (or the time to make any relatively quickly!) here's the information. Yes, it's a crochet site (a very fun one!) but I'm sure she'd happily take knitted, sewn or bought items too.
We also went to the library today (after the post office to mail this and some hats for Hats for the Homeless that I made over a year ago and only just got around to mailing. Oops). We didn't stay long at the library. I'm sick again and I was a little self conscious being in there with my eyes all puffy and my nose acting like a faucet. Yes, I have tissues and I use them but I still didn't want to really touch anything. Owen picked up a bunch of Magic Schoolbus videos (he's a huge fan) and Bridget found two new Asterix titles (her nose hasn't come out of the books since we got back).
There was a homeschool social get together today (once a month at a library) and I blew it off. I just don't feel like socializing when I feel (and look) like death warmed over. We have hiking Thursday and an arts and crafts sale Friday (which we still have to make items for) so it's not like my kids will be hermits this week. I love where we live and love that we have so many homeschoolers around - it's very cool! Just sometimes I forget we don't have to say "yes" to every single thing that's happening. I'm really making an effort to keep our activities to 2 or 3 a week. Definitely no more than 3. We don't do organized school, it's not about that. It's just about needing down time. I'm a bit of an introvert and the Dear Boy is like me, so he appreciates days at home too. But even my Very Social daughter gets a bit out of sorts when we are running around too much.
Of course, I would appreciate the home days more if I weren't chugging DayQuil (shudder - nasty stuff!) and using up tissues like they are going out of style.
