Today is my day off

Today is the only day this week we don't have something planned. It's a big week in homeschool land. Phew!

We had fiber arts circle here Monday. A friend brought her adorable little almost newborn baby and Bridget and her friend G were carrying the poor girl around. Well, the baby was happy. She was quietly looking around as they carried her through the house, but when we weren't paying attention they took her up the stairs. Scared the bejeesus out of me when I found them. It was a fun day except for the really loud fight that Bridget and G got into just before they left. They are both very similar and both like to be in charge so it's usually eventful when they play. Not so much like oil and water, but more like powderkeg and spark. When G left Bridget said she never wanted to play with her again. I let her calm down and at bedtime I asked if she really never wanted to play with G or if she was just mad. She said "Just mad".

Yesterday was a playdate at a friend's house. We had a blast :D The mom is very cool for me to sit and chat with, the house was nice and comfy, the kids played great. Tomorrow is a Halloween party and friday is a bake/craft sale. Saturday is pumpkin picking as a family and Sunday is a big birthday bash for a friend. Whew! I'm going to need a vacation after this week.

So we're at the library today. As Owen is walking up to me with a big grin, clutching 5 videos in his adorable little hands I realize we forgot to return the library videos we already have. The library has a limit on videos so I tell him he can take out 1. The little face crumbles and he collapses on the floor. He says how about 2 and I tell him no, he has to pick one, pick your favorite. He keeps repeating "Two!" and finally he says "Ok, three!". Alright kid, we're going in the wrong direction here! Finally, through the tears, he picks out one for his favorite. Then I find out that between my card and Bridget's, they *can* take out 2 each, so all is well in the world.

The librarian (not one we see often so she doesn't know us) says "The kids don't have school today?". I tell her no, we homeschool and she repeats back to me "You homeschool?". I then look down at what we're taking out. Ok, I had novels for Bridget, but both kids had movies. Batman Beyond, Power Rangers and two Rugrats. I also had a Kim Possible DVD I got from inter-library loan (that doesn't figure into the video count). I just smiled at her and said "yup!". She never smiles and always has this look on her face like she's confused so she probably wasn't making a comment on our selections, it just felt that way.
