The one that started it all

This is the first stop motion video we made. Bridget has been part of a book discussion club for the past month or so. They read and discussed The City of Ember, a sci-fi novel for kids. Their final project presentation was today. It was up to the kids what they wanted to do. Bridget made a diarama (which I just realized I didn't take a picture of) and then she made a stop action lego movie of a scene from the book.

She came up with what we would do, made the set, filmed, edited and wrote the, um, whatever you call the written words you'll see in the movie (one of the suggestions for a final project was to re-write a scene, so she wrote the segments herself instead of quoting from the book). I did most of the animation with her behind the camera.

We brought a laptop to the library and set it up so people could see. A pair of brothers did a really cool clay animation stop action movie of a different scene from the book. Other kids did diaramas and some written passages. It was a very fun day ;-)
