Sleepover

Bridget is away for a two day sleepover. She hadn't been gone more than a few hours when Owen told me "I miss Bridget.". They fight, sure. They're siblings after all. But they do love each other. Of course, I doubt Bridget is missing him right now. She's having a blast where she is :-)

I asked Owen what he'd like to do special while Bridget is gone and he said he wanted to go to the Rainforest Cafe. He loves that place and I don't really get why. Sure, the animatronic animals are really cool but it's LOUD and he's usually not good with loud noises (me either). But he wants to go so we're going.

I also realized this is a good time to take him to the IKEA ballpit. The first time Owen wanted to go into the IKEA ballpit was the day we found out that Bridget had grown too big for their height guidelines. Oh man, was she pissed. He went in that day (never looked back and had a blast) but we haven't taken them back because she can't go. Instead I take them to an indoor playground with a ballpit. You have to pay for it but we go a few times a year with friends.

Well, now that Bridget isn't here to feel slighted, tomorrow I'll take him to the (free!) IKEA one. Not that I have anything to shop for but it's a fun store to just browse in. We'll also have lunch in the IKEA cafeteria. That's something I used to do with Bridget when she was littler but not so much with Owen (one kid is easier than two).

The funniest moment today was when Owen was on the phone with his Grandma. He told her the best part of Bridget being gone was that he "got to cook dinner AND set the table AND clear the table." (usually they take turns setting and clearing). My kid is so weird :-D
