Weird. Blogger was giving me all sorts of trouble last night and when I finally got it to post about sports, it posted the new pictures before the last entry instead of after. Weird.

My musing for the week - Why is skip counting important? Maybe I'm brain dead but I can't think of why it's seen as a big deal. I was thinking this yesterday in the car when Bridget was experimenting with all the skip counting she could do. She taught Owen how to count to 100 by 100's ;-D She counted by 10's to 100, then by 5's to 100, then Owen asked me to count to 100 by 4's. That took a little bit of thought on my part but by the end I got the pattern and it was easier. Then Owen asked me to count to a million by some small number (can't remember) and I laughed and told him I'd count to a million by millions instead. It was fun :-D I gotta say I love how lately we're having more and more nice drives instead of "I'll pull this car over!" drives. Um, not that I've actually used those exact words, but I think most parents with multiple kids know what I mean.

Or how about "If you throw your food one more time, there will be NO eating in the car anymore. Ever!" LOL! Yeah, I know EXACTLY what you mean :-P

I think you hit on the whole point of skip counting when you said "patterns." Being able to see things in groups, rather than just individually, provides a completely different perspective on things. I think our brains learn to recognize patterns the more we use them. Can be a really helpful thing. I'm too tired right now to say why. But I believe it is. LOL!
