Bummer

I had an icky day and Bridget declared it the "best day ever". So who wins? LOL! Well, she says that at least every few months so don't take it too seriously ;-)

Today I was determined to go biking since we haven't been in awhile (um, ok, we went last week but that was just a little biking at a park - I wanted to go for a nice long, thigh burning ride). I wanted to go to this trail my dad took me to when I was a kid but I couldn't remember where it was. I know I was back there not too very long ago (ok, maybe pre-kids, maybe when I only had one kid, not sure) but didn't know where it was. Googling didn't help.

Finally I called my dad and he immediately knew what I was talking about. Whoo hoo! We googled the nature center he mentioned and he said the bike trail was "about a quarter of a mile down the road".

So we went there. There's no bike trail. The people at the nature center were less than helpful (there is no biking allowed on the nature center property by the way - which I understand - it's a nature preserve - and they didn't know anything about a nearby biking trail). When we left we drove up and down the street a bit and couldn't find anything that looked like it. Maybe it's a lot farther than a quarter mile.

But while we were there we went hiking instead. It's a really nice place to hike. HUGE, so we only went on a little trail for about 1/2 an hour. The problem being I had forgotten to pack sunblock and we left the water in the car (because we thought we'd just be asking for directions to the bike trail and heading off to there). The kids were fine, the hubbie was fine. Me, I'm part Vampire. I don't understand why some days the sun affects me, some not, but today it did. We weren't even out that long and I tried to stay in shade but still, I ended up all headachy and cranky and just not feeling good. At least I don't have a sunburn (or at least not much more of one than I got from Solar Day on Thursday - mild).

(yeah, you know, Solar Day - SOLAR DAY - I was in the sun a lot with no headachey problems - what's up with that?)

So we came home and I went grocery shopping and half way through I just felt too tired to finish so I grabbed some stuff and went home.

We tried out the gluten free pizza dough mix I bought and it looked bad so Robert went out and got pizza for him and the kids. It turned out the gf stuff wasn't bad (just looked weird). It was actually pretty good and we all had some (cept Owen who is very picky). And then we had gf cake with ice cream on it which we had been planning for awhile. That, of course, is why Bridget declared it the best day ever. Pizza, cake and ice cream. That's us, the healthy eating family, LOL!

Anyway, for those in NJ, here's a website you can use to find bike trails near you. Unless, of course you're in my county which has zero. That's right, zero bike trails. Sigh.
