Owen holds up four fingers on one hand and one on the other.
"Four equals one . . . I mean four plus one equals five. That means first I was one, then I was two, then I was three, then I was four, then I was five."
Is he cute or what? :-)
I'm so tired. I've had trouble sleeping for a few days now. I figured it was the heat which was keeping me tossing and turning and waking up all night long. Finally last night we had rain and the weather was lovely for sleeping. I slept through the whole night without waking (and went to bed early so got a good nine hours!) but I still woke up exhausted. What's up with that? Pffffft.
Today we walked to the library and signed the kids up for the summer reading program. They are doing it a different way this year. Instead of a box of little prizes, this year every hour you read you get a "book buck". The prizes have book buck values on them and you can either get a cheap one right away or save up for a more expensive one. Owen already has his eye on a transformer bug that's 15 book bucks. I explained to him many times that he'll have to save up for it but he doesn't really get it. I see tantrums in my future.
The other highlight of the day was releasing the ladybugs I bought at the garden store yesterday. My garden now looks like ladybug central :) Bridget took a lot of pictures and a short video but, as usual, I don't have them here to put on. I'm very pathetic with the pictures lately.
Gluten free mac and cheese was an awful failure today. I made a name brand box of it and let me just say yuck! Tinkyada noodles are much better than this stuff and the cheese sauce was barely cheesey. I guess I'll have to make homemade mac and cheese with tinkyada pasta to satisfy my cravings. Pancakes with sorghum flour were pretty gritty but the kids liked them slathered with maple syryp and honey. I think I shouldn't use sorghum flour on it's own. I guess I'm still on that learning curve here.
