So my friend Kate rocks! Tonight she voluntarily, all on her own (no blackmail or threats of violence, I swear!) took my kids home with her along with her 4 kids. Do the math! Six kids! And everyone lived! Wow, my mind boggles. They were gone about 3 hours and I was alone. Blissfully alone. I love my kids, I love my husband, but it's so nice to be alone every now and then. Just me. I didn't turn on any music for the first hour or so, just quietly played on the computer in silence. Silence. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I decided not to waste my time cleaning (just some dishes) and walked to the library instead. It was niiiiiiiiiiiiiice. Kate, you're totally cool, thanks :-)

The library thing went well this afternoon. Bridget took part in the little kid (4-7) and big kid dance classes. She told me later she liked the little kid one more. That one had a good 20 or so kids running around like nuts. That's her kind of thing. The big kid class was just her and 4 others and even though she liked it, it was a lot calmer and more serious. Yeah, wild abandon is more my baby :-)

Owen is now asleep and Bridget is in the other room demonstrating why it's so hard to read out loud to her now. She got impatient with me reading "so slow" so she's finishing the book I've been reading her the last few days. She doesn't get that I have another child and things to do and can't sit and read for 4 hours at a time. For the record, I *did* read for a good 45 minutes tonight after they got home but that wasn't good enough for her. I'm not complaining really. I love that she enjoys reading so much she can't wait to finish a good book. Sounds like someone I know ;-) It's just frustrating for me because then I have to quickly finish the book on my own and don't get the fun of reading it out loud to her. Well, it's still fun I guess. Tomorrow I'll ask if she wants me to continue reading it to her anyway or just start a new book. Either way, I'm fine.

So, I'm saying goodbye to my sweet little 4 year old boy tonight and tomorrow I'll wake up the mother of a 5 year old. Sniff sniff. :,-)
