We survived Owen's family party today :) I hurt my neck last week in D.C. and today I reinjured it so I didn't enjoy the party as much as I could have. I popped some advil and slathered on the BenGay and despite holding my head at a weird angle and not being able to turn to the left, I had a good enough time.
We managed to have a gluten free meal (and delicious brownie dessert) but forgot that my brother-in-law is Muslim and can't eat pork. We remembered this *after* making the baked ziti (rice noodles) with sausage in it. So we ordered a couple pizzas (the kids were thrilled!). My nephew it turns out is allergic to corn and cow dairy. Right now he's a toddler and still eating the snacks his mom brings but next time I'll remember his allergies and try to accomodate him. Yeah, so next party we'll have to have gluten free, dairy free, corn free and pork free food. Man, is our family fun to feed or what? LOL! Fruit. As far as I know, no one is allergic to, intolerant of or forbidden to eat any fruit. Maybe we'll have fruit kebobs :)
The birthday boy had a blast and so did his sister. My aunt really revved the kids up (in a good way) and the screeching caused my sister to declare she's getting her tubes tied, LOL! Yeah, maybe she should stick with pets, they're usually quieter :-)
Tomorrow we're going to the library homeschool meeting for a special dance class. Bridget is excited and Owen isn't interested at all. Well, otherwise it's Owen's week so I think he can put up with one thing he's not into. It's only two hours long and I'll bring some toys or something for him to keep his interest. The problem (and the reason we stopped going there in the first place) is that this monthly event is rather noisy. It's held in the library auditorium and is always PACKED with homeschoolers. Owen doesn't do well with loud noises in small spaces. A few good friends of mine will be there though so if Owen can't handle it I'll ask if someone can keep an eye out for Bridget while I take Owen for walks to de-stress the poor boy.
That's all the rambling I have for tonight :D
