I'm trying to hand train Angel. Doves are mellow birds but they still need to be handled to get used to humans. It seems that she was not properly socialized (snort! she must have been homeschooled - JOKE!).
I was looking at pictures in a book and reading about various things and I think she's young. That would make sense too. If someone did buy her to release at a wedding they wouldn't bother hand training her or keeping her around long. So she was probably fed and sheltered but that's about it. Anyway, we've had her, um, a month now? And last night she sat on my finger for the longest time yet. She got so comfy she moved up to my hand and started grooming herself :-) After about ten minutes my arm was getting really tired. Robert tried to pick her up and she flew off. Still, I'm going to try it again tonight. The more holding the better.
