A slow week

We're having a non-planned lazy week here. Monday Owen came down sick. Bridget was fine until she saw he was sick and suddenly she was too (uh, yeah). But now she genuinely is, along with the hubbie and (as of today) me too. Owen had it the worst though. He was the only one who had a fever and man, what a fever it was, poor kid. But after three days of that, I *think* it's gone (ok, I thought that yesterday too and then he spent all last night burning - fingers crossed!). Now he sounds like a little old man with a smoker's cough. A nice accompaniment to Bridget's coughing and sniffling and my nose blowing. Yeah, we're a musical bunch :-)

I have to admit I've enjoyed a lazy week at home. The kids, not so much. Well, mostly Owen, which is unusual. We had a busy week planned and he's burst into tears each time I have to cancel something because they're not yet well. I've already warned them we probably will have to miss the birthday party tomorrow. We'll see how they wake up but I somehow doubt they'll be fine and dandy by tomorrow. Bridget has been taking it all in stride though. As social as she is, she really does appreciate the occasional vacation to just lay about the house, watch tons of videos, read books, hold "dance parties" in her room with her dolls and just generally hang out. Owen and I are reading a lot of Berenstain Bears and when he's really sick he's been watching videos and napping. A lot. It will eventually get old though, so I'm hoping we'll all be contagion free soon.

The kids have both expressed interest in making a gingerbread house (especially since the date we cancelled for today was to go with their Grandma to see a gingerbread house competition). I think maybe this weekend would be a good time for that to make up for the slow, sick week we had.
