We rented Treasure Planet the other day. As a side note, it was apparently Disney's lowest grossing animated film of all time. I have no idea why. I really like it! It's got adventure, drama, humor, beautiful scenery and great music. Plus it makes you want to go off and read Treasure Island just to see how much was from the book. But hey, everyone has different tastes I guess.

Anyway, there's one scene where Long John Silver makes Jim "swab the deck". Bridget (watching the movie for the second time this week) left the room announcing she was going to go swab the deck. She got out the mop and set about mopping the kitchen floor. Ok, about half the floor, but still.

So then I was outside shoveling this afternoon. Bridget is telling me about a magical, helpful house creature called a lantern or something? I didn't get the word even after I saw the movie. She heard about it from the video Aaron's Magic Village (alternatively titled "The Real Shlemiel" - based on stories Isaac Bashevis Singer wrote about the town of Chelm). I'm getting the name of the house fairy wrong, but it's some sort of magical creature who helps out with housework. Anyway, Bridget told me she was a "lantern" and was going to help out. She picked up a shovel and started shoveling with me. She happily cleared the walkway from the sidewalk to the steps and then did about half the driveway.

Hmmmm.

Mental note - get more movies that involve housework.
