Today Owen decided he was going to make "a surprise" for us. He told us we were not allowed to come into the kitchen and then he went in there and started puttering around. A few minutes later he came up to me, his little 4 year old eyes wide open, and said Oscar (the cat) had left the kitchen so he didn't have company. He's scared to be alone but apparently the dog or cat will do.

Well, how to make a surprise when you don't want to be alone in the kitchen? Robert went in and opened a can of cat food and got Oscar back in there for awhile. At one point we heard "No Oscar, that's not for you, that's for my family". So Owen continued with his surprise but then Oscar was done with his food and left again.

So I went and stood in the doorway, my back to the kitchen, while he worked. Of course then he couldn't reach the tea so I had to get it for him "But don't look!". So I reached in without looking at what was going on.

Finally it was done and it was just the cutest thing. He had made two pots of tea, chamomile for his sister since she prefers it and green tea for the rest of us. It was cold tea, just water from the tap over tea bags, but we drank it out of the little cups that came with the tea set he got for Christmas.

To go with the tea he had made four slices of toast. He had cut the crusts off all of them too.

So we sat and drank tea out of tiny little cups and ate crustless toast made by the cutest little boy I know. It really made my day :-)
