Seven

Seven is quite curious! Owen is my little scholar lately. He's full of questions and says "let's look it up" on a regular basis. Every day starts with questions. I'm still wiping the sleep from my eyes and making the bed and he's asking me about camouflage or octopuses or how long do crickets live and how do spiders make their silk. I wonder if his head is thinking all this while he sleeps and it all comes tumbling out first thing in the morning?

We talked more of cephalopods this afternoon and he started asking me more questions about why the octopus is related to the squid, and why the nautilus is different but still related. It made me realize I need to explain the taxonomy of life . . . . so it can be understood by a 7 year old. Which mainly means let him know what he wants to know and ignore the rest so it's not overwhelming. For now maybe Plants, Animals and . . . other, lol! But maybe just running down what Kingdom, Phylum, Class (etc) an octopus is in will be what he needs right now.

It's a pretty cool age huh?? Dj will be 7 next month and she's been sooooo curious about everything!! But yeah, sometimes the explanations have to stop a wee bit short lol!!
