Bad Fans

My mom came over last night and saw the new Harry Potter on the table. She said "Oh, Bridget, how do you like it?". A pause. I said no, it's for us. "Oh, isn't it a children's book?". Well, technically, I guess, but I know way more adults who read Harry Potter than kids (which isn't to say kids aren't reading it, just that adults are too). Bridget has almost no interest in Harry Potter. I read a few chapters of #1 to her a few years back but she didn't get into it. And our brief attempt at watching the movie proved to be too scary. She's not really into wizards and dark stories. She's more into fairies and mermaids and light, upbeat tales.

But I just realized what bad HP fans we are. First, we leisurely bought the book yesterday evening instead of waiting in line at midnight the day before. And since then? It's still sitting on the table, untouched. I want to read it, I do, but I want to finish the book I'm reading first before I get caught up in HP land, so maybe in a day or two. And Robert is in the middle of The Golden Compass (from His Dark Materials - also a kid's book by the way, LOL!) and will probably finish that first. He gets very little time to read so I'm guessing he won't be starting Deathly Hallows for at least a week.

So we'll get there. Not so much fanfare, but we'll get there :)
