What. A Great. Day. !!!

Today was just wonderful. Really, really nice :-)

First I should mention a few days ago we made some robots that actually work (what a concept!). Owen got a rabbit and Bridget got a dog. If you clicked the links did you notice the "intermediate" label on those? I ignored that. At first when these arrived I was kicking myself for not paying attention but you know what? It turned out ok. More than ok, totally awesome! I put Owen's together (as I expected) but Bridget actually was able to do a lot of hers with my help. We had a really good time with these and they are very cool. They're see through so you can see everything working and oh yeah - they WORK. Unlike the dinosaur still sitting on top of the piano, helpless and imobile. Owen named his bunny "Active" and Bridget's dog is named "Jessie". They really are cool to watch.

So, illnesses seemingly behind us (fingers crossed!) we went to Michael's today and got various arts and crafts items. We were going to work on them when we got home but there were packages on the steps so we had to open them first of course.

First we put together the new Capsela 175 and 200 models that we got. Yes, I know, it's like electronics week around here. I need to remember to thank my mom who paid for all this :-)

Anyway, the Capsela is a lot easier and Owen was able to do more of it. We defintely want more of these, though I have to say from the point of view of someone into this stuff, the animals were more fun to put together (though they did take almost an hour each especially with some of the teeny, tiny pieces you need to manipulate and not lose!). But we're happy with all of these and want to eventually get more of both brands. Very cool.

So then I finally got to open my package - soap! Yummy, delicious, skin soothing, eczema reducing (that really took me by surprise!) handmade soap from The Foil Hat. I started reading her blog months ago and have been really enjoying it because she is very, very funny. Her life is also very different from mine in regards to where she lives, how she homeschools, how many kids and the testosterone factor, so it's sort of cool to read in that way too. Eventually I just had to try some of her soap and now I'm hooked. This time I got the coconut lemongrass and red clover tea (both under the seasonal section). Both smell divine.

So then Robert came home and commented on how "dinner should be on the table, not robots". Yes, he was making a funny (but yeah, Capsela parts were all over the table and dinner was no where to be seen - I heated up some soup for the poor boy and went back to making things go zoom).

After dinner the kids and I headed to the library. They now have Cyberspace DVDs! Come on, they really need an instructional section! So I shelled out $1.75 to rent it for 3 days (as opposed to renting instructional DVDs for 2 weeks for free in the adult section). Owen picked out a few more videos and Bridget (as usual lately) went nuts in the series section. I think we have officially reached the point where she has to return the books she has at home before she takes out more. We'll have to spend some time this weekend looking for them all. We had a lovely walk there and back by the way. Nice conversations and holding hands with my little angels.

At home the kids spent time sorting through the big bag of really cool buttons Bridget bought at Michael's. Tomorrow we have a playdate planned but if it's cancelled at the last minute (one of the other kids might be sick) we'll just stay home and do crafty things. Bridget wants to make a dress for her doll (using felt and the buttons from Michael's). Owen wants me to help refigure his Capsela into a car instead of the robot form we made. I have some beads I bought to make into a bracelet for myself.

The kids ended the night watching Cyberspace. We haven't seen that show in years and I had forgotten how funny it is. Bridget is interested in the computer games. She's been playing the online one on PBSkids.org but for some reason it keeps stalling and that's frustrating. Buying an actual game will probably work better.

And that was today. Really nice and sweet and just an awesome family day. Life is good :-)
