Bridget has a race tomorrow! It's a half mile, age 10 and under. She got a t-shirt just for signing up and gets to wear a number and everything (she's 180). There's no winners for the kid's races. Every child who completes the race gets a ribbon (the adult races later on have 1st, 2nd and 3rd places). I hope this will work out ok for her. I've talked to her about how cool it is to be able to actually run 1/2 a mile without collapsing in a heap like her mom would do (or most of the adults she knows, LOL!). We've been preparing for this for months, me stressing the "finishing the race" and "competing against yourself" parts and Bridget just running around like a nut to get ready. She's even going to bed early tonight so we can get her out of bed at the crack of dawn for the 10:30 am race. Sheesh, don't they know some of us are homeschoolers and don't believe in getting up that early?
The only problem was Owen. He was upset because Bridget gets a ribbon for running. He doesn't want to run, he just wanted a ribbon. So the other day he made a ribbon for himself. I helped a little with the cutting and he designed it. Then he ran around the house and won his race and got his ribbon. And now he seems ok :-D
And finally, is it me or does this painting of Paul Revere look like comedian Jack Black? I was flipping through one of Bridget's Highlight magazines and saw this in one of the articles. That's just weird :-D
