The human brain is amazing.
A friend on Facebook mentioned something and I *wanted* to reply with the name of a book but couldn't remember it.
So I'm searching and searching but it's a book about reading so yeah, try plugging that in your search engine.
I get to Amazon, looking for "reading education" and nope, not finding it.
And suddenly "Jim Trelease" pops in my head. I type it into the amazon search and what do you know. That's his name.
I have a pretty crappy memory so I think it's very cool that my brain suddenly pulled the author's name out of the old vault ;-)
Anyway, if anyone is interested in reading a book about reading, here it is. It's preaching to the choir for us unschoolers and most homeschoolers. His main point is that reading should be *fun*, not work and drudgery. He talks about how making reading into something hard that you have to work at is usually going to end up with a child who doesn't enjoy reading. He's also very pro-comic books and pro anything that gets the kid to enjoy reading. In other words, he's not one of the people who think kids should only be allowed to read works of great literature.
Still, I'm just impressed my brain worked this afternoon. Wow! There's hope for me yet ;-)
