Nothing much

Why are the best days the ones that don't look all that special on paper? Today was really nice. Maybe it's just because I feel like there's been so much pressure on me lately and today it was all over. I need some time to decompress.

Grandma's house was finished a few days earlier than expected. The tenant is moved in. That's the biggie. The thing that's been taking up much of my time for the past few months. And yeah, I did lay awake a bit last night feeling sad that we'll never visit her there again. Some strange woman and her kids will be living there instead of Grandma and that's just weird. But still, the work is done for now (we're in agreement that we're not going to start work on the basement til 2009 at least).

Bridget's birthday parties are also over. Parties are fun, but at heart I'm an introvert and there's always the stress of people. Plus cleaning the house. Not my favorite activity ;-)

So today we did nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zip. Well, mostly nothing.

There was an impressive amount of delightfully passive entertainment. Lots of Cartoon Network cartoons for the kids (have I mentioned how much I enjoy Total Drama Island?). The Daily Show clips for me. Robert watching Milk & Cookies (a video site).

Bridget tried out her new unicycle a few times, rolling across the room firmly holding on to her parent's shoulders along the way. And then later she started getting up on her own, using the door jams or her stilts to balance. She only got the thing yesterday for her birthday and I'm pretty impressed with how well she's doing so far. Especially given that I tried it and that thing is not easy. Though we should keep in mind I have the coordination of a drunk platypus on roller skates. Bridget thankfully takes after her Dad in that department.

There was some rat playing of course. They're really enjoying the broccoli rabe I bought for them on sale. They're cute as ever of course. The rats, not the broccoli rabe.

Angel walked around a bit but rather quickly flew right back to the cage. Hey, whatever makes her happy.

We took a walk around the block. Bridget didn't want to go at first but then Robert pulled out the walkie talkies and she had a blast, running blocks ahead and giving us updates on her progress every 30 seconds. Complete with "over" at the end of every single sentance. By the end it disintegrated into the kids howling and roaring into the walkie talkies but it was fun.

There was Sims too. Another birthday present was the Sims2 Seasons expansion pack. We've been having fun with the plant Sims, the green, sort of elf like Sim people.

The day ended with ice cream on the couch (Bridget on her birthday beanbag) while we watched the final DVD for season one of Avatar. We're going through the series season by season, ordering them one at a time from the library (inter-library loan).

And that's about it! One of the most relaxing days I've had in awhile :)

Sounds like an awesome day!! I'd love to have a day like that, total, complete chilling.

Congrats on getting your grandma's place settled.
